Over the offseason, the Nuggets brought in veteran point guard Russell Westbrook to help bolster the bench. Many wondering how the fit of Westerbook would be with the Nuggets considering he has bounced around the NBA over the past few years.
But the fit has been seamless and Westrbook has been having a great season in Denver. Nuggets star forward Aaron Gordon spoke with with James Brizuela of Newsweek Sports and The Big Lead and discussed the resurgence of the All-Star this season.
“You gotta let Russ be Russ, I think that’s the one thing. You can’t try to make him perform and be a system player. Russ is gonna make the right play, he’s smart, he sees the floor, he plays hard so he’s one of those guys that you hate to play against and love to play with. He’s just gritty, he sees the game correct and he holds everybody accountable and he’s one of the hardest workers that we have.”
Westbrook has appeared in 51 games for the Nuggets and has averaged 12.8 points, 5.0 rebounds, 6.3 assists, and 1.4 steals per game. The veteran has found a home with the Nuggets and has given their bench unit a massive spark this season.
