Emmerdale fans have noticed a major change on ITVX streaming platform as the picture for the episodes has changed.

During the last few weeks, there’s been drama kicking off in every nook and cranny across the Dales. Joe Tate’s return was soon revealed to be an undercover kidney heist as he targeted Caleb Miligan.

However, his plan didn’t run smoothly as he first thought Noah Dingle would be a match, and spiking his half-brother led to the Valentine’s limo crash that left three villagers for dead.

Recently, ITVX changed the picture to one of a thoughtful John Sugden. Shortly after, they aired flashbacks that revealed his true colours.

It appears as though John has some sort of “hero complex” as he keeps putting people in dangerous and life-threatening situations just to save them.

Viewers also watched as it was revealed that he accidentally killed Nate Robinson who was thought to have “left” the village last year.

With his body in the lake, it might not be long before the truth is outed as his loved ones grow suspicious of his whereabouts.

So, what could be next for the ITV soap? Well, eagle-eyed viewers noticed that the picture on ITVX has since been updated yet again.

The streaming service that catalogues hundreds of popular shows, and this update teased what was to come in the village.

Instead of John Sugden, the image now shows Sarah Sugden stood on her own in the hospital looking upset.

Katie Hill joined the Dales in in 2017 as she became the fifth actress to be cast in the role of Sarah Sugden as the writers wanted to tackle a mature storyline.

Sarah was diagnosed with a rare genetic disease called Fanconi anaemia. She had to receive a life-saving bone marrow transplant and also a heart transplant which has shortened her potential lifespan.

Recently, Sarah opened up to Vanessa that she doesn’t want a boyfriend after being dumped by both Jacob and Kammy, but instead a baby.

With trying to conceive being a difficult process for Sarah due to her condition, she’s hoping to go down the IVF route.

On X (formerly known as Twitter), @vanitysfare wrote: “New @emmerdale cover pic on ITVX is Sarah Sugden. This suggests that Sarah’s story is gonna become central in coming wks & if it remains IVF focused it could run for months. We know Vanessa & Charity are tied to this story, so it provides major potential for #Vanity content ahead.”

Other users on a Reddit thread tried to theorise what it could mean, with u/AffectionateWord7761 who suggested: “Maybe she’s got ovarian cancer I doubt the writers would hate Cain enough, but what if Nate is a red herring and it’s Sarah’s grave he’s at (he’s still dead though)?”

They also joked: “It looks like it will be an upsetting SL, but what if it’s a trick. She wants to do IVF, so might get pregnant with quads”.

Emmerdale airs on weekdays at 7:30pm on ITV1 and is available to stream on ITVX.
