Hyderabad: Former minister Shailajanath has left the Congress party to join the YSR Congress Party (YSRC). The switch happened in the presence of YSRC president and former chief minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy at the party’s central office in Tadepalli.

Shailajanath is expected to take charge of the Singanamala constituency in the erstwhile Anantapur district. There’s a local sentiment that has persisted for the last 30 years, suggesting that whichever political party wins the Singanamala seat will form the government.
