Police, fire, and ambulance services were all called to a serious crash on Thursday evening, where a woman was seriously injured and had to be cut from her vehicle. She was then taken to hospital for treatment.

The two-vehicle crash involving a Toyota Yaris closed a four-way intersection in Stretford while emergency services worked to free the woman from her car. A section of Kings Road and Seymour Grove remained closed while multiple police, ambulance, and fire crews responded to the crash.

After 45 minutes on the scene using specialist cutting equipment, firefighters from Moss Side, Salford and Ashton were able to free the injured woman. The MEN understands that a woman in her 50s was taken to hospital by the North West Ambulance Service following the incident, while another person was treated at the scene.

The incident took place around 9.30pm and caused major disruption to other traffic in the area. Video from the scene shows a lamppost lying flat on the floor inside the police cordon on Kings Road, with multiple police vehicles, fire engines, and an ambulance lining the street.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “At around 9.30pm on Thursday 27 February, fire crews were called to reports of a road traffic collision on Seymour Grove, Old Trafford.

“Two fire engines from Salford and Moss Side stations, as well as the technical rescue unit from Ashton, were quickly mobilised to the incident. The collision involved two cars.

“Firefighters used specialist cutting equipment to extricate a woman from one of the cars. She was then taken to hospital by North West Ambulance Service. A second casualty was assessed by paramedics at the scene.

“Fire crews were in attendance for about 45 minutes.”

Greater Manchester Police and North West Ambulance Service have been approached for comment.
